It’s going to be a busy weekend for Fairway Group at the Jersey Triathlon.
After completing a half Ironman in France, HR Director Matt Ebbrell will be swapping his trisuit for a high visibility jacket as Race Director.
CEO Louise Bracken-Smith and Graeme Fairlie, who also took on the 70.3 distance in Aix-en-Provence will be taking on the Olympic distance with Business Development Executive Graeme also doubling up on the swim leg for the Fairway Group relay team at the same distance.
He will hand over the proverbial baton to Trust Officer Matt Hanley for a 40 kilometre bicycle before Rebecca Tinnelly, Compliance Administrator, brings the team home.
This will be Matt’s 4th year as Race Director for the most southerly triathlon in the British Isles which brings plenty of challenges as well as rewards.
“The event has grown significantly over the last few years and it is amazing to be part of a race that includes elite athletes at the top of their game, grass root athletes who might be competing in their first triathlon and every other ability in between,” he said.
“The race is inclusive and enjoyable while fulfilling all the official criteria of other big races,” he continued, “it can be a bit stressful in the run up to the race, especially last year when a potential electrical storm whizzed across St Aubin’s bay immediately before the race which meant we had to rapidly discuss contingency plans for hundreds of triathletes – thankfully they weren’t needed and hopefully this year will be much calmer…”.
You can cheer on all the competitors at this year’s Jersey Triathlon from 7am this Sunday 16 June. More information is available on the official website – Jersey Triathlon.
